With only a couple months of summer left, you dont want to miss out on any of the vintage festivals coming up. A vintage festival fully takes you back in time and emerges you with the fashion, music and sometimes even the vehicles.

One of our favourite vintage festivals, and one we have attended numerous times is Goodwood Revival. We will also be there this year from the 6-8th of September - stand no. 52 so make sure to come and say hi if you come along!

Some other big vintage festivals are Twinwood, which is from the 23rd-26th of August, Vintage By The Sea, which is on from the 31st of August to the 1st of September.

Q&A with Sharon Puchot Diaz

-Have you been at any Vintage Festivals and if so which one?

S: I have been to the Classic Car Boot Sale in London Kings Cross twice! It doesnt count as a vintage festival per say but it stems from the same event.

Ive also been to Frock Me! Vintage Fair and will soon be going to some 40s events around the Essex area.

-What is your favourite part about attending Vintage Festivals?

S: Getting to meet so many lovely people! But also the outfits! So much creativity, diversity and and I get inspiration where ever I go! The community is just out of this world and everyone is so welcoming! I guess you can say the energy and vibe is just refreshing and glamorous! Butttt by far.....I do love the shopping! I will take hours going to the stalls and just touching everything, feeling fabrics and just being lost in it all!

-What would you wear to a Vintage Festival?

S: Depends on the weather for me and what version of Sharon i want to be! But I always stay true to being classic, timeless and chic. Its all about styling! A good blouse, skirt, hat and gloves can go a long way if you accessorise it well. For me I always go all out! Go big or go home! I take the glamour to the max and I always think to myself: Do I look like a classic old Hollywood actress or femme fatale? If I succeed this vibe I know ive done it right!

-What are some essentials you would bring to a Vintage Festival?

S: 1. Bring ballet flats with you if youre wearing heels! Find one that matches the outfit and put them in your bag. Its a life saver.

2. Bobby pins! If you have straight, dense hair like me it is a must to hold that curly hair do! Hair nets help me a lot for 1940s looks and it stays in place all day.

3. Phone Charger! Ive always been to festivals for a day not a weekend but I never leave the house without it.

4. Makeup for retouches! Just your lipstick and a compact powder. Mines from Besame Cosmetics and works wonders.

5. My instant camera! I always love to bring it to vintage events or socials of any kind cause the result is magical! And it also works as a prop.

-Why would you recommend vintage festivals to other people?

S: Its a whole experience. I feel completely myself there, it feels like a judgment free space and there are so many activities and things to see! I feel like a kid in a amusement park! I am a history, makeup, movie & fashion buff so I always get too excited for my own good. But there is something for everyone! Try it if you havent because trust me once youre there you will know what I mean...

3 outfits sharon would wear to a vintage festival

outfit no.1

For the first look Sharon has selected a pinstripe suit, with a white shirt and tie, paired with silver mary janes and our decadant crystal 1920s earrings.

This outfit is inspired by Marlene Dietrich who was a German singer and actress from the 1910s to the 1980s. A woman, especially a famous one wearing a tuexedo suit has always been surrounded by a cloud of scandel, Marlene wearing this tuxe was a symbol of liberty and empowerment at the time, and is still such an iconic look nowadays.

The second outfit Sharon has chosen is inspired by the Dior New Look 1947. This look feautres round shoulders, a cinched waist and a very full skirt. Sharon has paired this with a pair of white heels and our cream pearl earrings and choker necklace.

The "New Look" celebrated ultra-femininity and opulence in women's fashion.

Sharons final chosen outfit is inspired by Audrey Hepburn. This includes a dogtooth white and black dress with little black heels with our regal pearl stone earrings.

Audreys style was referred to as sophisticated, minimalistic, elegant and polished. Hepburn would usually chose a muted palette of black, white, beige and pink which would emphasise the darker undertones of her eyes and hair.

Sharons top tips for a vintage festival

  • Do your research on the event and be organized

I know its obvious but its always good to know what activities there will be and what youre most interested in seeing! If your going for one day then you might not be able to squeeze everything in so go to the ones youd like to focus on the most!

  • Check the weather!

This will impact your outfit choices....so make sure to know how its going to be on the day so your neither sweating or freezing. Its better to be prepared for anything.

  • What decade will you focus on? Once you know....do a Pinterest board?

If the event has a decade focus than half the battle is done and you can pick what kind of style to choose from that decade. If it doesn't than depending on your style you can go outside of your comfort zone or wear your regular aesthetic. Again its all about being playful and fun! Exploring is part of it! No stress! I loveeee researching and taking time to plan my outfit. There is always new things to learn when it comes to fashion and self expression. Also who are your fashion icons? Good question to ask yourself as well. Mine for example are 'Audrey Hepburn' and 'Marlene Dietrich'.

  • The Instagram vintage community is your best friend!

I have made so many friends through the online vintage community and so many of them have helped me gain inspiration but not only that....if you ask, most of them can help you in any way for example tips on hair, makeup and even recommend some vintage movies or links to clothing websites. I was able to find so many good vintage markets, charity shops, vintage reproduction brands and DIYs because of them! I owe them so much! They are elite!

  • Be yourself and dont follow trends!

I am a big no no when it comes to trends. Stick to your style and stay true to yourself. Yes style evolves with time but the essence still stays. Stick to your gut feeling. It worked wonders for me. Also....just have fun with it, style is suppose to be about freedom and self expression. Own it and be your own movie star!
